CASTED: Kids is our ‘hands-on’ ED orthopedics course specifically tailored to pediatric emergency departments.
Based on our CASTED: Emergency course, CASTED: Kids comprehesively covers upper and lower extremity injuries to pediatric patients. The course also covers injuries to the older teen (ie, with closed growth plates).
Case-based lectures highlight pediatric orthopedic principles and the management of numerous injuries. ‘Red flags’ and practical ED approaches are reviewed in detail.
The ‘hands-on’ components emphasize numerous reductions and immobilization techniques. Closely supervised practice ensures you are doing it right! An ED-focused MSK physical exam will highlight many useful tips.
Numerous practical, clinical pearls are covered throughout the course for use on your next shift.
This program meet the accreditation criteria of the College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been accredited for up to 27 Mainpro+ credits. (3 credits/hour; 1-day course = 27).
