All of our CASTED courses are available as a roadshow. Roadshows can be requested for conferences, hospitals, residency programs, clinic groups and more. We generally arrange everything (travel, materials, manuals, shipping, etc.) except the space (which the host organization arranges).
Typically, roadshow requests from CME conferences are not associated with a minimum requirement.
In-person course requests from individual departments or groups generally require a minimum of 20 participants.
On-line only course requests have a minimum of 15 participants.
Typically, 3-4 months lead time is needed for requests from North American residency program, hospital and groups.
For conference related requests and for international requests, about 4-6 months lead time is needed.
Please contact us for further details or to request a roadshow.
Our on-line courses are presented via Zoom. Participants are 'video-on/mic-off' for the most part. Plenty of anonymous polls and video responses allow you to stay engaged and manage the cases. No stress or pressure to participate - but the more you treat these cases as if you are managing them on shift, the more you will get out of the course.
Tips to get the most out of the courses:
Pre-course: do any suggested pre-course work.
Day of the Course: (1) be well rested; (2) laptop or monitor to better view the images; (3) reliable Wi-fi; (4) manage the cases as you go.
CASTED: Emergency is based on the ED setting (as are CASTED: Kids, CASTED: Nurses and CASTED: Forces). Typically, traumatic cases with lots of practice with x-rays, reductions, and immobilization.
CASTED: Primary Care focuses on managing cases that present to a Primary Care office. More atraumatic cases (overuse or degenerative) with some traumatic. More time is spent reviewing office-based cases (work-ups and management), while practicing physical exams, joint injections and office-based immobilization (braces, splints, etc).
CASTED: Fracture Clinic is for family doctors who follow-up patients with acute fractures. Lot of cases, understanding which are 'safe' to manage, review the key management decisions, hands-on practice with fiberglass casting and cast removal, physical exam review, etc.
CASTED: Plastics is an advanced hand injury and complex laceration course for Emergency Physicians, residents, PA, NPs, and health care providers that manage these injuries in the ED. Best to take once you feel very comfortable with suturing, so the course can then elevate your skills to a higher level.
CASTED:Rads is our new ED-focused imaging course. It emphasizes plain films and touches on POCUS and other advanced imaging. Very practical and relevant, with clinical correlation to physical exam. No hands-on casting or splinting, but tons of cases. While not mandatory, our recommendation is to take the CASTED: Rads course 6-9 months after having taken a CASTED: Emergency course, as it complements that course's teaching.
Each of the above categories has a separate manual and overlaps only slightly with each other (except CASTED: Rads, which is an extension of CASTED: Emergency). If your practice setting is mentioned above, then the noted CASTED course will likely be of great value to you.
If your CASTED course includes an in-person day, then you can select the hands-on day when you register.
If available dates and/or cities do not fit your schedule, you can hold a credit for the hands-on day. Stay in contact with our CME office at NYGH for added dates and cities. If none of the hands-on days work, then a partial refund may be possible. Please contact our office for further details.
Written notice must be provided to cancel registration in the CASTED course. Unless otherwise stated in our materials, the following policy applies.
If, for any reason, a CASTED registrant cancels:
- more than 28 days before the course: a $75 administration fee applies.
- 14-27 days before the course: a 50% refund will be issued
- within 14 days of the course: no refunds or transfers are allowed.
