CASTED is presented by Dr. Arun Sayal, in conjunction with North York General Hospital. For 30 years, Arun has been an emergency physician at NYGH in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. And for the past 18 years, he has run a weekly Minor Fracture Clinic at NYGH. In 2008, he gave the first CASTED course based on the ED-relevant clinical pearls gleaned from NYGH's gifted orthopedic surgeons. These were important pearls that eluded Arun his first 12 years (2000 shifts) in the ED. These pearls from the surgeons made him 'rethink ED orthopedics' - and remain the foundation of CASTED's teachings.
CASTED's lead faculty include Dr. Matt Distefano, Dr. Gregg Bolton, Dr. Kylie Booth, Dr. Wes Clayden and Lianne Chan (PT). Additional faculty include experienced orthopedic technologists and physiotherapists who work in the ED, Fracture Clinic and Primary Care settings. CASTED faculty are selected for their teaching and clinical excellence.
Collectively, CASTED's faculty have presented over 1000 ED orthopedic workshops and lectures across Canada and internationally to several thousand physicians, residents, PAs, NPs, and nurses. Their reach has extended to most continents across the globe.
CASTED's faculty are expert clinicians and equally fine educators. They share invaluable clinical pearls during each course with the focus solely being on what helps you on your next shift. And we promise the course will be enjoyable!
