CASTED: Forces is the ‘hands-on’ orthopedics course designed specifically for medical technicians and physician assistants in the military.
CASTED: Forces courses are available on request as 1-day and 2-day versions. Courses can be requested on-line, in-person, or hybrid (1 day of each).
Each CASTED: Forces course focuses on the initial assessment and management of the patient with an acute extremity injury.
Case-based lectures review orthopedic principles and highlight clinical pearls. Emphasis is on key aspects of the history, physical, investigations (x-rays) and management.
In-person courses include extensive hands-on components with demonstrations of casting and splinting techniques, followed by hands-on practice under the close supervision of CASTED faculty.
CASTED: Forces provides a customized, ‘hands-on’ orthopedics experience that will increase the participants’ confidence and skills with acute orthopedic management. The course is available as a roadshow to travel to military bases. It is also available as an on-line version.
