CASTED: Nurses

CASTED: Nurses is a ‘hands-on’ ED orthopedics course for ED nurses who assess and treat common ED MSK injuries.

In addition, organizations can request customized CASTED: Nurses on-site courses to meet the specific needs of their nurses (ED, out-patient clinic, remote settings, etc.). Options include: 1-day to multi-day courses; in-person, on-line, or hybrid training. Please contact us to discuss your needs and review course options.

CASTED: Nurses highlights orthopedic principles, common injuries, and improves registrants’ understanding of the orthopedic assessment. Case-based lectures emphasize keys of history, physical, and x-ray ordering and the limitations of x-ray.

Extensive ‘hands-on’ demonstrations and practice allow for improved confidence with cast/splints. Proper molding and positioning techniques will be reviewed.

At the end of the course, registrants will have significantly improved their MSK assessment and treatment skills.

CASTED: Nurses provides essential foundational knowledge and practical hands-on practice for nurses to improve their orthopedic skills. At course completion, attendees are not ‘certified’ for independent practice. However, the course gives attendees a strong ‘launch point’ to take back to their practice settings. With additional local support, they can consolidate their training and be locally assessed for readiness of independent practice of the various procedures covered in the course.

CASTED: Nurses courses are scheduled on request and range from 1-day to multi-days; in-person, on-line, or hybrid (on-line plus in-person). Please contact us for further details.
